The Founder
Antonio Cancian, Founder of POOL Engineering
The professional journey of Antonio Cancian (b. 1951) began in Mareno di Piave, a small town in the province of Treviso, in a region where hard work, practicality, and entrepreneurial spirit have always been deeply rooted values. From these beginnings, a career gradually took shape that would extend far beyond the local context.
An engineer and entrepreneur, in 1975 he founded the civil engineering company Poolinvest, marking the beginning of a professional path built around a clear belief: engineering is not only about calculations and technical solutions, but also about the ability to imagine the future and turn it into reality. Over the years, he developed extensive experience in infrastructure, design, and territorial development, working on projects of increasing scale and complexity.
His career later led him to senior roles in the field of major infrastructure and transport, further broadening a vision shaped by decades of hands-on experience and engagement with both national and international contexts.
This experience became the foundation of the philosophy that continues to guide POOL Engineering today: combining technical expertise, entrepreneurial vision, and Italian design culture, within an environment where architecture, engineering, and innovation come together as part of a single integrated process.
From Mareno di Piave to an international dimension, Antonio Cancian’s story is ultimately the story of an idea that became an enterprise: designing not only for the needs of today, but for what can shape the future.

La storia professionale di Antonio Cancian (n. 1951) nasce a Mareno di Piave, un piccolo paese della provincia di Treviso, in un territorio dove il lavoro, la concretezza e lo spirito imprenditoriale hanno sempre rappresentato valori profondi. È da queste radici che prende forma un percorso destinato a crescere ben oltre i confini locali.
Ingegnere e imprenditore, nel 1975 fonda la società di ingegneria civile Poolinvest, dando inizio a un’esperienza professionale costruita attorno a una convinzione precisa: l’ingegneria non è soltanto calcolo e tecnica, ma capacità di immaginare il futuro e trasformarlo in realtà. Negli anni sviluppa una profonda esperienza nel campo delle infrastrutture, della progettazione e dello sviluppo territoriale, affrontando progetti di crescente scala e complessità.
Il suo percorso lo porta successivamente a ricoprire ruoli di vertice anche nel settore delle grandi infrastrutture e dei trasporti, ampliando ulteriormente una visione maturata attraverso decenni di esperienza sul campo e di confronto con realtà nazionali e internazionali.
Da questa esperienza nasce la filosofia che ancora oggi accompagna POOL Engineering: unire competenza tecnica, visione imprenditoriale e cultura italiana del progetto, costruendo un ambiente in cui architettura, ingegneria e innovazione dialogano come parti di un unico processo.
