ENERGETIC MASTERPLAN OF VENICE AIRPORT

In 2011, Pool Engineering was commissioned to carry out the study of energy planning in the context of the Feasibility of the Intermodal Node (HUB) of Marco Polo Airport in Venice: identification and analysis of the objectives, criteria and choices on the subject of energy needed to plan and rationalize the networks and energy requirements for the realization of the Master Plan (MP) 2030 and, in particular, of the Intermodal Node.

The specialized activity was carried out in order to draw up a study articulated in the following chapters:

  • analysis of the current legislative / legislative framework: verification and analysis of the international, European, national and regional legislative instruments of the specific legislation of the existing sector.
  • Analysis of the energy needs of the actual state: estimate of the airport’s energy needs in the current configuration, obtained through analysis and comparison of existing energy studies and extrapolation from consumption data and load curves made available by Save.
  • Evaluation of the evolution scenarios of the different aspects that influence the energy issue, and identification of the general requirements and guidelines that guide the analysis of the MP 2030.
  • Analysis of the possibility and potential of using renewable energy sources, and optimization of exploitation of water resources.
  • Proposals for intervention regarding the energy requalification of the current building stock: definition of possible interventions applicable to the existing building stock.
  • Forecast analysis of the energy needs of the future state: estimate of the evolution of the airport’s energy needs in the time span of the implementation of the MP 2030.
  • Identification and evaluation of the applicable technologies to serve the airport energy demand in its future evolution.
  • Identification of the plan of interventions in terms of energy efficiency for the development of the airport, with regard to electrical, thermal and water needs, and to the exploitation of renewable resources, with relative analysis of energy, economic and environmental feasibility.
